According to new World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) results, the United Kingdom has dropped out of the top five largest tourism markets in 2020.
According to data, the hospitality sector experienced a 63 percent drop in GDP last year.
Due to continued travel restrictions and what the WTTC called "unnecessary and crippling quarantines," it fell from fifth place in 2019 to eighth place in 2020, resulting in one of the largest collapses of the ten largest tourism markets.
Meanwhile, despite a 41% drop in GDP last year, the United States retained its status as the world's largest tourism sector.
