According to ANI, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared on Sunday that the lockdown in the National Capital has been extended for another week, until May 24. It was originally scheduled to end at 5 a.m. on Monday, May 17.
“We're continuing the lockdown for another week. Lockdown has been extended until next Monday, 5 a.m. in Delhi, rather than tomorrow,” he added.
The number of Covid-19 infections in Delhi has been steadily declining in recent days. However, the positivity rate remains well above 5%, which the WHO considers to be a reasonably healthy amount.
“The rate of recovery is increasing. And the percentage of people who are optimistic is decreasing. In the last 24 hours, approximately 6,500 new cases have been reported in Delhi, and the positivity rate has fallen to 10%, down from 11% the day before. We cannot relax our guards now,” Kejriwal said, adding that he hoped the situation would improve further in another week.
