In order to combat an increase in Covid cases caused by Omicron, Delhi will implement a weekend curfew and allow government employees to work from home. However, buses and the Delhi metro will run at full capacity.
On Tuesday, Delhi reported 5481 new instances of the Omicron strain of coronavirus, along with three deaths. The infection rate is 8.37 percent.
"To combat the COVID spike, the DDMA has decided to implement a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays. Except for those performing critical services, all government employees will work from home. Fifty percent of the private office employees will work from home
As part of the "yellow alert" restrictions imposed on December 29, Delhi already has a night curfew in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Cinemas and gyms have been closed, and stores have been permitted on an odd-even basis.
